DETAILS ABOUT THE CHOIR

Vision statement / Artistic goals: Promote the enjoyment of choral singing; develop musical skills leading to public performances

Year Choir formed: 1995

No. of Singing Members - Currently: 60 Desired: 70 (max)

Musical Repertoire: Classical through to modern music, Christmas Carols, folk songs as well as major choral works; the choir also performs with orchestral and theatre groups

Musical Director: Anne Friend

No. of years in current post: since 2020

Previous musical experience: Anne is an experienced choral singer and conducter, both in Melbourne and in the US; she has sung with the Tudor choristers, Melbourne Chorale and Faye Dumont Singers; Anne studied singing with Joan Dargavel and conducting with Robert Rosen, Faye Dumont and Rodney Eichenberger; the Blackburn High School Singers which she conducted through the 1980s won both Waverley and Ballarat Eisteddfods, and Anne was awarded the Conductor Trophy at Ballarat; Anne was also the musical conductor for the South-Eastern Philharmonic Choir for many years; Anne also has a great deal of experience in the design of Musical Curriculum for churches, schools and for the Victorian Education department; Anne is currently Head of Music Curriculum at the Presbyterian Ladies College

Choir's past collaborations with other musical groups: Bendigo Chorale, Bendigo Symphony Orchestra, Maroondah Symphony Orchestra, Yarra Valley Singers, Waverley Concert Band, Kooyong Chamber Players, Oakleigh City Band

Minimum Attendance policy - Rehearsals: Yes Concerts: No

Membership Fees: $130 p.a. or $75 per concert (temporarily altered due to Covid-19)

Ability to read music: Desirable

Sight-reading ability: Desirable
