DETAILS ABOUT THE CHOIR

Vision statement / Artistic goals: In 2021, the choirs Mood Swing and Tongue and Groove, who had started in 1998, merged to form Noteworthy Choir, a fun group of people who come together once a week to sing; they enjoy performing a varied repertoire, including choreography for some songs; they aim for 2 concerts a year

Musical Repertoire: Very varied - pop, jazz, African, gospel, folk, bit of classical - both simple and complex songs and arrangements

Musical Director: Lisa Schwabe

No. of years in current post: since 2003

Previous musical experience: Studied music in New Zealand; plays saxophone and clarinet; has been leading choirs and vocal ensembles since 2003; teaches Music Performance at Melbourne Polytechnic; arranges songs for this Choir and for other groups

Choir's past collaborations with other musical groups: The Choir has combined with other community groups in the St Kilda East area for past performances

 

JOINING REQUIREMENTS

Audition: Yes - a simple audition to establish that people can pitch notes and sing a melody; previous experience in choirs very desirable

Minimum Attendance policy - Rehearsals: Yes Concerts: Yes

Membership Fees: $200 per term

Ability to read music: Desirable

Sight-reading ability: Not necessary
